Lessons at Chestnut Farms are designed to educate students in the art of communicating with their horse through proper use of seat, legs and hands.
We strive to help owners with gaited breeds best understand their horse’s movement, and what can be done to promote their best gait. Also, it is important for all students to gain and enhance their knowledge so they can ride safely and confidently, in a co-operative manner with their horse.

More advanced students are challenged according to their experience, and their comfort level. It is important that your goals are achieved while also developing, or improving your ability to communicate clearly with your horse. A happy owner means a well cared for horse. It is a win-win situation!
Lessons are typically arranged on an hourly basis. However, if you are traveling from a greater distance half day lessons, or even full day mini-clinics can be arranged. The best advice is to call and discuss your individual situation to see what would work best.
Prior to the first lesson all participants fill out a brief questionnaire and waiver. Participants are encouraged to bring their own horse, however Chestnut Farms can provide a lesson horse based on availability.
